The One when we didn’t score a single one…again!

Simeone said after the match at Santander: “When you asked if I’d rather play bad and win I said yes. You (press) did not like my answer. Today we played very well and drew. I’m sure you’re delighted” Atleti did everything right today except scoring. In an excellent match vs Racing at santander, neither Diego, nor Adrián, nor Falcao nor any other player in red and white will be recalled as man of the match because that trophy tonight could only go to man-of-the-match Toño, Racing’s goalkeeper blocking the unblockable and where Toño wouldn’t reach the post or the crossbar were there to help him keep a clean sheet. A sweet and sour draw. The team played well but is also struggling to score. Will we improve? Rome and Gijon await with the answer this week.

Thanks to you I have to think of a new title for my comment as this is my 2nd rant about This is Atleti in only one week
Whatever…
Thank you very very much for recording directly after the match so I was able to listen and comment on it before leaving for Rome tomorrow. Although my bathtub listening was slightly disturbed by the noise of the men repairing the broken water pipe on the street which seemed not to have survived the -14 degrees last night.
Hopefully Ricky did not only miss the episode because you recorded so early after the match. I don’t want to be blamed for you to be incomplete. Although you said you are still friends I start to get worried about your relationship
I don’t have so much to add today as I was agreeing on most of your points. Like you said we played a really good match except for the fact that there was an invisible wall in the goal and the fact that Oliver Kahn decided to play yesterday dressed up as Toño. I once again liked our defense. Sad thing that Falcao seems to have a bad day. Like you said we’ll need a 3rd striker. Maybe we should just try with one of the cantera guys.
I’m just starting to get a bit worried that we might start a “draw series” like Manzano did.
I’m also a bit worried about Arda’s physical state. If that has already been a problem at Galatasaray this seems to be something more “serious”. But its not that serious as this is a thing you plan and something you already know before the match. But the club should have an eye on that.
I really like the idea of bringing in Silvio as a sub on the right back position with Juanfran moving forward for some creativity
when we need it.
This whole backchatting stuff is really strange. Maybe they are really trying to influence the ref but this is a dangerous thing as it is possible it has the contrary result that the ref is deciding extremely harsh because you are pissing him off…
To the Lazio match. I’m really looking forward to it. Hopefully it will really be a passionate match. I suspect them to play with their best players in Rome and maybe rest some of their players on the return match in the Calderón.
On the defense substitution: I also believe Miranda will be on the bench. I’d love to see Silvio for the left back position for the Sporting match. For the Rome match its not relevant as Felipe is able to play there, or am I wrong? This comprise of taking Domínguez to left back and play Miranda just to avoid benching someone might work in that week. But it only delays the decision. What happens when Dominguez plays a good match on left. Will Simeone leave Filipe out then?
And finally: I love the idea of transferring Raul Garcia to England.
So and now I’ll finish packing my back and head off to the stadium this afternoon
See ya next week. If you see a girl with a black “1. FC Köln” cap on tv on Thursday in Rome… that’ll be me
Greetings from Germany
PS: Just want to point out that – with my picture on his back – Mario almost scored yesterday!
